I had a lot of fun with the theme this month.  As usual I had tons of ideas but never got around to taking them.  The COLD weather kept me inside most of the time.  GO quick check out Corey and Jenty’s sites– I’m sure they found some fantastic photos that spoke to them of nostalgia.

A Strawberry Story: The good. The bad. The nibbled.

Strawberry pot

My strawberries are really coming along. Squidge and I water them together and talk about how they’re growing and how they’ll soon turn red and juicy. Squidge is a bit of a strawberry-aholic. The girl will eat herself sick if I let her. I find this pretty funny as my mother will also eat herself sick on strawberries so I think she gets this from my Mom.

The other day we found one that was almost ready for picking. Oooh it was exciting thinking we would be nibbling on a strawberry we grew ourselves– nom nom!

Yesterday we went outside to check on our strawberries and we found this. NIBBLED and not by us!! We think the squirrels got to it. I’m a bit bummed out at this turn of events. BAH! I won’t let those Squirrels win *shaking my fist in the air*.

nibbled

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I’m also growing these bad boys and I’m keen on actually eating these. damn you SQUIRRELS!!

This afternoon after a quick internet search I’ll be going to the garden center to find some anti-squirrel devices.

Also THANK YOU so much for the love on my last post. I don’t know if I’m just hormonal but I got a tad bit weepy reading the comments. I’ve stuck to tracking everything I eat and that has been an eye opener. Snack and nibble hoooo boy do did I do that a lot. I’m hoping the key is just being aware what I put in my gob! I’m also trying to eat more protein and cut down on my carbs, not surprising I’m a big carb junkie! I will keep you all posted on how that goes. I’m also off to a local cemetery a bit later to take some photographs for this months Three Corners project.

Three Corners– May

Posted on June 2, 2008

A little late but posted none the less. The theme for May was light and I’m not ashamed to say that I found this one difficult. At first I thought it would be easy but I had a difficult time deciding what light is.
I actually looked it up on the dictionary hoping to get some inspiration.

1. an illuminating agent or source, as the sun, a lamp, or a beacon.
2. pale, whitish, or not deep or dark in color:
3. Of relatively little weight; not heavy

I spent most of May looking for light and I finally decided on these.

Manchester is not exactly known for natural light but I think I did OK.  Please check out Jenty and Corey’s photos for May’s Three Corners.
