the one where I should be packing

Instead of packing Squidge and I went to Kenyon Hall Farm for a little pick your own fruit picking fun. We usually go every year with friends but this year it didn’t work out so we went on our own. I felt horribly guilty over our weekend. Squidge didn’t do anything but watch tv on Saturday while we packed. Yesterday was skiing and swimming lessons then more tv for her while we packed. I didn’t want to have another day where all we did was pack so off to the farm we went. The weather was so good and I was horrible over dressed for it– clad head to toe in black. Not a good idea with the sun beating down on us. As we walked around looking for the best strawberries, tayberries and raspberries I looked down at Squidge and realized how lucky I am, it sometimes takes my breath away.

Now we’re back home and she’s down stairs watching tv and I’m supposed to be packing.

We’re getting down to the wire here with our moving. It looks like we will be moving on the 23rd. Or not as no one can agree to a completion date but I’m working to the 23rd. So here is our weekend in pictures…

This was our weekend and will be our week. I’m still hopeful that we will complete on the house this coming Friday. Please send positive thoughts and prayers that this happens.

I think I’ve created a dessert monster! Squidge wakes up in the morning asking if she can have dessert after her breakfast– eeeer NO! Still we do enjoy a treat in the afternoons while dad is snoozing on the sofa. I keep telling myself I’m not going to miss all the fantastic independent shops that are at our doorstep when we move when in reality I will miss them… a little.

Today the man I love turned “old” and we celebrated with a 5 alarm cake! Seriously, just look at the cake!!

There were so many candles I was a little concerned we were going to have an incident but luckily it went off without a hitch. After singing a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday it was time to blow out the candle.

After this we cut the cake and each ate a yummy gooey piece– sorry was too busy stuffing my face to pick the camera back up so I’ll just let you use your imagination the next 2 photos; Wal cutting the cake and Us stuffing our faces. Then it was time to open presents. Wal never says he wants anything so I’m never sure what to buy him. This year it was just books. He liked them so all is good. Now I’m off to bed as I feel myself crashing from the birthday cake sugar rush.

On Saturday we went to the school fair at Squidge’s school. As you can image she was very excited and bouncing around on the way there. It was about what you would expect and she had a great time. I did have a moment where I wondered if she was herself…
