Streetlights

A couple of months ago I was in a rush. Squidge and I were meeting friends to go pumpkin picking and they were meeting us at ours in 45 minutes. As we were getting dressed I pulled out Squidges wellies and noticed they were waaaay too small. I threw her in the car and sped off to pick up some wellies.  You can see where this is going can’t you?  Amazingly we made it to the shop and back and my friend only had to wait 5 minutes or so.  Wal was home so they just chatted for a bit until I came barrelling into the house. Then we all climbed into her car and had a fab time at the farm.

A couple of month later I get a letter in the post w/ a picture of our car speeding through a traffic light. We thought about it a bit and realised it was me… on the Sunday heading to the shop for Squidges wellies *sigh*  I was only going 5 miles over the speed limit but considering I thought I was 5 miles UNDER the speed limit things were not looking good. I was given the option of going to driving school to avoid getting points on my license so I took that option.  Good thing too!!! Did you know that you can tell what the speed limit is by the streetlights?!?!  Whooo knew?!?!? Not I, said the brown cow!

At the end of it all I was just glad I hadn’t been caught speeding before! It appears that I’ve been speeding in built up areas and not going fast enough on single/dual carriageways!  So now I know and fingers crossed I’ll be a better driver from here on out– time well spent!

  1. I did one of those courses a few years ago, I’d forgotten all about the street light thing. It’s the 3rd gear thing that stuck with me. If the engines screaming, I’m going too fast lol
