THE AVERAGE FAMILY

Read this today and it made me think about how my family compares…

THE AVERAGE FAMILY

  • Has two children. One
  • Wakes up at 6.45am on a weekday and 7.44am on a weekend. I set my alarm for 7:30 but I’m always awake by 6:45.
  • Kids to bed at 8.10pm. Squidge goes to bed between 7:30 and 7:45
  • Adults to bed at 11.23pm. Usually in bed by 12:30
  • Two televisions in the house. One but we do have a iPad and will sometimes watch what the other doesn’t on it.
  • Watches five and one quarter hours of television a day. about 4 hours
  • Most likely to watch kids shows on television. I don’t think so!
  • Has two rows over the television and remote each day. We never ever fight over television. I also do not allow tears over not being able to watch tv. Sometimes Squidge will cry because I tell her we’re going for a bike ride and to turn off the tv. This drives me mental. Real life experiences are WAAAY more important and I tell her to save her tears for something better! LOL I know I’m a meanie!
  • Spends £81.92 a week on food shopping.  I think we spend a bit less. I shop at Costco for bulk items and try (but usually fail) to meal plan so I can avoid unnecessary (and expensive) trip to the grocery store
  • Eats a meal together five times a week.  This depends on Wal’s work schedule. If he’s around and working from home we eat together.
  • Has two takeaways a month.  Never ever! If I’m not cooking then it’s a meal out and that usually happens once every couple of months.
  • Has two hours and 55 minutes of quality time together each day.  I think we spend a lot of quality time together– more than most families. We’re very lucky!
  • Goes on one day trip a month. Define day trip? We go for bike rides and walks regularly but I don’t think I’d define that as a day trip.
  • Plays sports twice a month.  Eeeerm move along… nothing to see here.
  • Goes to the cinema once a month. As a family it’s more like once a year. I have gone a bit more than that thanks to my friend Sally.
  • Visit friends or extended family twice a month.  My family is in America. Wal is an only child so his extended family is pretty non existant. He and Squidge will visit his parents every other weekend.
  • Goes on one bike ride together a month.  More often than that weather permitting! More like once a week.
  • Has three rows a week. We don’t argue we discuss! I’m Portuguese we LOVE discussing!
  • Owns two cars one of which is a blue Ford.  Own 1 car. An 11 yr old VW Golf– blue. It ain’t purdy but it’s paid for so we’re driving that sucker into the ground… not long to go now!!
  • Owns three mobile phones. Two
  • Owns three laptops, computers or tablets.  1 computer. 1 laptop (2 if you include Wal’s work laptop) and 1 tablet.
  • Earns a household income of £39,223. Wal makes a bit more than this.
I guess this means we’re not your average modern family!
