Exposing my shame

This post is really really dif­fi­cult to write. I have hid­den this dirty lit­tle secret from so many peo­ple. I’ve even hid­den it from myself but to be hon­est it’s not my only dirty lit­tle secret.  Below is my down­stairs loo. It’s a dis­gust­ing cold space and I avoid it as much as pos­si­ble. Really hon­estly I do. I will run upstairs to use the loo rather than go in there. Behind the mir­ror is win­dow, which we inher­ited with the pur­chase of the house. Well a mir­ror is needed and so I just left it there. The fan doesn’t work. The pipes were boxed in to the floor but when we had the water com­pany in to fit a meter they tore the bot­tom half off. I had left it exposed because I didn’t know what to do with it. Also I never use this loo and what you don’t see you often for­get.  When my mom came to help me recover from surgery she sewed up a lit­tle “skirt” for it. I should have had her make one for the sink as the pipes under the sink are pretty gross too.  So this is what it looks like…

Here is what I dream it will look like! With the help of ratedpeople.com and the Tots100 I’m hop­ing my dream might come true. I love the idea of a room w/ all white walls, sink and loo w/ a bit of colour on the floor. Then I think oooh I love the blue stripes on the wall and every­thing else white and crisp.  I think I’m lean­ing toward the white wall because I’m hop­ing that won’t date the room too quickly.  One of the things I worry about dur­ing this entire home remodel is try­ing to get the most bang for my buck. I don’t want to do a room in a style that is too now only to hate it in 5 yrs time. I’m hop­ing to go for more clas­sic  and time­less looks. Which would you choose?
