I have a confession to make. Recently I have been letting Squidge sleep in our bed. When I say our I mean it’s ours (mine and Wal’s) but Wal isn’t actually in it. It all started when I went to visit my parents and it’s just continues. You see Wal has been away (and will continue to be away until the 16th) and when he’s away I sometimes let Squidge sleep in our bed. The thing that is worrying me is that it has gone on too long and when the time comes for her to sleep in he own bed it’s going to be hell! I’m a little surprised at myself as I am was a hard ass when it came to sleeping. Even as a baby I wouldn’t get her out of bed and cuddle her. I would go to her room and rub her tummy and sing to her but I wouldn’t pick her up. I feared setting her up with some bad sleeping habits. So imagine my surprise when I realized I’m getting her used to some horrible habits now. So watch this space, I will more than likely be bitching, moaning and complaining about what a nightmare time I’m having getting her to sleep at night.
Actually it’s already started, last night I could not get her to fall asleep. She ‘fake’ cried for about 2 hours, this was after we called Dadda, Auntie Sherry/Justin/Krina/Tommy/Uncle John and Vavo and Vovo. Oh and she wanted to talk to Buddy my brothers dog, who unfortunately for Squidge was in Boston w/ my brother. Oh the moaning and ‘fake’ crying we had over that one! She was ooooooh sooooooo sad that she didn’t hear him talking (barking) at her. *sigh*
On more peppy and upbeat news we went to the movies/pictures/cinema today! I have wanted to take Squidge for a while but just never did. Today was one of those days where I didn’t have anything planned and didn’t feel like going to the park. So after consulting Facebook we headed off to our local cinema to see Planet 51. The cartoon was OK, maybe a bit too old for Squidge. There were lots of jokes aimed at the parents, when done well it’s fine when done badly it grates on my nerves. I would have preferred her first experience at the cinema to be something cool but at the end of the day she was “so cited mama” that it doesn’t really matter.
We miss you auntie Sherry!! Good luck on your exam next week– now get off the computer and back to studying!!!

That is one of the cutest pics ever!
I think letting Squidge sleep in your bed whilst Wal is away is ok (my mum used to let us do it, although nights were shared bewteen the three of us) but she needs to understand that she has to go to bed well to get the treat and that when he returns, she’ll be straight back to her own bed. Of course at that age, that’s the difficulty.
thanks for the vote of confidence! Will deal with the fallout later I suppose.
I started with my youngest sleeping in with me when the hubby was out of town months on end working in Nashville. Now here we are nearly 2 years later and we’ve still not got him in his own bed. Got it on my New Year’s list of resolutions though!!
Lovely photo by the way!!
Karen– that’s what I’m afraid of! She actually falls asleep in her own bed then I move her to my bed when I go to sleep. Sad isn’t it!??!?! I should just go to sleep and leave her alone!
what a beautiful photo!
Love the photo.
Don’t worry about the sleep thing — will all come good in the end.
Confessions of a bad mamma as well. DH lives in another state…and she always falls asleep in her bed but always manages to come to our bed sometime in the early AM.. I am too tired, lazy etc to deal with the fallout.. the moaning, crying blah blah..so i let her… One time I took her back to her room and fell asleep only to realize she was in our bed and I was on her floor.. wtf??
LOL Maria! I hope you weren’t asleep on her floor long.
