I'd tie the knot in the U.K. and then plan your dream party for your family and friends. Also, get yourself and Squidge fabulous outfits. At the end of the day, it's all about the party and hanging out with the people you love, IMHO. Fun stuff!

Getting married abroad makes life simple in some ways, complicated in others. I'd be tempted to have some Google fun and find a few venues. They'll probably have all the information you need on the legal side.
We married in the UK. We got a 'package' from a lovely hotel. We got married (civil ceremony, our own vows and music) in the afternoon and had a meal, speeches etc. with 50 friends and family. We then had a disco in the evening for 100. It was brilliant, the hotel did a smashing job. I made my own invites and favours and my mother in law made the cake. Guests can stay in the hotel. Easy.
There are no rules, it's your wedding and you can do what you like! Good luck x

Many congrats. It is your wedding day, so you do whatever you want to. It can be as small, big, quirky or traditional as you want. As for timing, we arranged ours and got married in three weeks. We just told friends where we were getting married and where the party was afterwards. It was fab, low cost and I would not change anything about it if we were to do it again. Just write a list of what you want - and do not want - and take it from there. xx

Was talking about weddings with TLP just the other evening and we thought we'd just go for simple register office do followed by 'pie and peas' type spread in a pub somewhere. Nowt fancy and not that we're going to.
Can only say go with what feels right for YOU. Cake is always good though.
Do you want the stress of trying to get things organised in another country when you could do it here and then just head off for your own party/honeymoon? Glad I don't have to organise anything like a wedding.
