iTouch iWalk iTravel

Posted by on February 24, 2009

I’ve got iPhone envy– baaaad!  Only thing is I rarely use my phone other than to text so I can’t see the point of getting an iPhone.  Seriously I have a pay-as-you-go plan and only have to top up £20 every 2–3 months.  Now the iTouch sounds like an ideal compromise. It does everything the iPhone does except take pics and make calls.    Another reason I’d like it is that you can download that maps thingie so I’d never get lost again.  If you know me you know that’s usually a problem!  What do you guys think?  Anyone have one?

I’m still going strong with my morning walks.  Now don’t get all crazy and think I don’t moan like stink when I’m getting dressed and heading out the door.  The important thing is I’m getting out the door– just 25 more days to go before it becomes  a habit.  Isn’t that what they say? We’ve also been eating much much healthier.  Gone are the fish pies, the chicken and chorizo casserole (drool) the chicken and leek pies, the chili (have I ever mentioned I make the best chili ever?) and all those other things that I tend to cook in the winter because it’s just good home cooking type of food and what I gravitate to when the days start drawing in.  It’s been baked chicken, salads and rice.  We’re trying to cut back on the carbs– I know, I know rice but give me a break I can’t cut them out all together!!!  Tomorrow I’m making Turkish lentil soup– it’s a veggie dish and I might make my own flat bread, we’ll see how it goes. Debating on the bread because you know CARBS but it’s what is usually served w/ this dish (so says Wal from his frequent trips to Turkey)

The days here are definately getting longer, Wal and I noticed it was still light out at 5:30 the other day– Yay!!  Also planning on going to Kidderminster. Any Ukers know the place?  Any suggestion on photo friendly places to visit?  Wal will be out visiting a customer and I thought Squidge and I could do some sightseeing. Ha look at me acting like people in the UK actually read my blog!

Looking through my photo archives– oooh mah gawd where has my baby gone??

I really need to get a lot more exercise as well. And eat better. I lost weight so nicely towards the end of last year, but is slowly picking it up again. Don’t know why, cause I don’t overindulge. Puzzling. More exercise may be the answer.

I received the photo yesterday. Thank you very very much. I will be framing it and will find a good spot for it in the house.

Well you’ve got at least one UK reader here. I won’t pretend to knwo where Kidderminster is though — somewhere North of London, right?

I don’t have the iTouch but I have a few friends that do and totally love it. Good job on the walks! That’s awesome!

The cooking on the other hand.… I wish! Scott won’t eat anything like those dishes so it’s steak and taters as ususal… for now.

She’ll always be your baby.. but I do love that shot w/the apple(strawberry?) hat! So adorable!

Don’t know anyone with an i-phone, i-touch, etc so can’t really help. I know I keep looking at all-singing all-dancing phones but really wouldn’t use most of the features.
I like the idea of walks but would really have to struggle to fit them in. Good for you on working at it.
Loving the sound of your cooking. I’ve just wiped the drool from my chin.
Kiddeminster? Somewhere near Brum. There are Kidderminster Harriers but for all I know it could just be a name and nothing to do with the place. Google?
She’s still your Squidge. Beautiful as ever.

Kidderminster about an hour (on a clear road ) from Birmingham.. Don’t know what there is .. but I have seen it on signposts..

Oooooooooh, aaaaah, those iPhones are so cool! Now I rarely use my phone for anything past a call or two, or, like you, some texting, so I really can’t justify the expense just for the cool and fun factor, but still, I waaaaaaant one! lol

I don’t think I’ve ever seen any pictures of Squidge as a tiny baby — oh my gosh the cuteness! She was (and still is) adorable!

Good luck on the walks, the diet, and the house…all good things going on in your life — YAY for you :)

Lindy, you don’t need the iphone :) Only your best friend could tell you that straight out! You are notorious for wanting all of the newest gadgets but, as you said, you don’t use your phone much so, don’t get it!

I am pumped that you are keeping up with your walks! That is great. Keep going and it will become a habit, maybe even an addiction :) BTW, try to make chili with tofu. I know it sounds disgusting but tofu is great for chili, will take on the taste of the spices very well and has a great texture for chili.

    See ya soon!

I know! I know!!! I’m not getting an iPhone– total waste of money and I’d much rather get a new lens!! Wendy knows me so well! Wal I and were talking about the fact that I’d much rather get a nice bit of techy bling than jewelry! Now don’t ger me wrong if Wal gave me some diamonds I would turn my nose up at him BUT to really make me happy buy me some little bit of techie lovelyness!!

As for making chili w/ tofu– hmmm will give it a try but I’m not convinced. What is the texture like?

I’ve googled Kidderminster and I’m sure I’ll be able to keep busy while Wal is at his meeting. Thanks for all the walking love– I’m still at it and am beginning to enjoy the time alone before I start my day. Of course that means leaving Squidge alone w/ Wal– the state of the house when I get back is some times funny sometimes not– depending on my mood! I’m also struggling w/ believing that 30 minute walk every day is going to make a difference! The ‘experts’ say that is all it takes so we’ll see.

TLP said he went to Kidderminster one and it has got a nice cathedral.

that’s great about the walking. our dog is getting a little chubby and could use some extra walking, but I’ve been lazy. look how much she’s grown up!

  12. Karen

Well done on your walks and diet changes. That lentil recipe sounds yummy — you’ll have to post it!

  13. Joanne

Lindy I got my lavender photos and I LOVE them. Thank-you so much!!!

    I remember that hat..it is so cute…
Don’t think I’ve ever been to Kidderminster…if I have it really hasn’t left a lasting impression but sure you’ll have fun wandering around a new place! I followed Richard on a business trip once and had a great time exploring new shops etc…
