This morning we braved the rain and headed out to Delamere Forest. It’s a little tradition of ours, getting our tree from the forestry commission. I just feel like we’re getting a tree that has been grown responsibly– for every tree that is harvested two are planted. It just makes me feel good knowing that we’re helping the forestry commission grow and maintain the forest.
Last year we went on a weekend and there were tons of things going on. This year we decided that it was just too crazy with the traffic and the long wait to get in. I have this violent reaction to waiting. I avoid it at all costs and will not do things if I have to wait to get in. It’s not the waiting it’s the idea that if so many people are outside waiting what is it like inside! So this year we decided to go on a Friday to avoid the crowds, it worked, there were no crowds.
Although I think the fact that it was chucking it down had more of an impact than the fact that it was a Friday. One benefit of the rain was the lack of a queue at Dinky Donuts!
It wasn’t as much fun as last year but we still had a good time. All I can say is d’oh those nuts were yuuuumy! They made these dinky little donuts right there in front of you. It’s a yummy-delicious little gimmick.
We sheltered under a tent (kindly supplied by the forestry commission) until the rain stopped then we went in search of the perfect tree. Squidge spent most of the time looking for pime comes and splashing in the puddles.
We finally settled for a 5′ noble fir. It’s perfect and is sitting in the back garden just waiting to be brought inside and decorated. Oh and doesn’t she just look soo cute in her new coat? She did the same thing she did last year.
We hope everyone’s holiday season is shaping up to be a holly jolly one!!

Your tree looks jolly nice. I keep being tempted by a trip to delamere but then think about having to clean the car which puts me off. Will prob keep the fake one.

Sounds like a super tradition and I must say that donut shop looks like it could be stocked with just the thing. Mmmmmmmm.…… The last pic of Squidgyboo is great. She has a very naughty look on it though. What does she have up her sleeve.

Love the way you guys choose your trees! We just go to the shop and buy one in a box! Your way is so much more exciting!
