Happy Halloween!!

Squidge went to her friends Chloe’s house for a Halloween party. Chloe was born in San Francisco and her mother wants her to celebrate American holidays. I think it’s pretty cool– I see many American holidays spent w/ Chloe in the future. Squidge had a fab time eating and eating and trick or treating and eating sweets.

Can we say sugar rush??!?!! At one point she tried to make a run for it!

So I put her in the pound!

We had a great time Teddy! Thanks for having us and we hope everyone had a great halloween!!

Lost in South Africa

Posted on October 30, 2007

Wal has been in Cape Town, South Africa since the 21st.  He was supposed to  be flying home Sunday night to arrive Monday morning.  As you probably guessed– that didn’t happen.  While packing and gathering all his things Wal realized he couldn’t find his passport– ruh roh!  He was able to change his flight to one later in the week.  He’s managed to get all the documentation needed for a emergency replacement and will be home Thursday morning– woo!

Before he realized someone had taken his passport he sent me this photo– doesn’t he look all tanned and relaxed?  Little did he know!!!

Can anyone tell what’s wrong with this picture?
eeer... what's wrong with it??

Oh and did you know that ketchup contains milk??  I was sitting at the table eating my lunch and I started reading the label.  It’s really disgusting what they put in some of these foods.  So back to the point– MILK!!  Who would have thought ketchup of all things contains milk.  I’m going to have to check if all brands contain milk of if it’s just the cheapo Tesco brand I bought.

Grrr

As some of you might have noticed, I’ve been tweaking my blog.  I’m trying to add a flickr badge and I can’t.  I appear to be the only dumb-ass in the entire blogosphere that can’t add a flickr badge.  I’ve also tried to add the NoProBleMo (not it’s actual name) and I can’t figure out how to make it link back to the Ning page.  Grrr so I’m just a dumb-ass.

What do you guys think of the new header.  I chose this one because Wal thinks Squidge has amazing eyes.  So being the sappiest of saps I did the eyes.

Here’s Squidge’s new trick– eating at the table on a big chair. Highchairs are for suckas!!

Buh Bye!

They came, they slept, they ate, they left.

Mariel + Squidge

I think that is pretty much all that was done here for 3 days.  I think they were a little bored.  On Friday I was going to take them to the city centre but they looked like they needed the sleep– I went to my baby group instead.  On Saturday we went looking for Lyme Park and got really lost.  We ended up at Bramall Hall Park– nice but small.

I left them in the village to hang out while I went home to put Squidge to bed.  They stayed in Saturday night– Dan was asleep before 8pm so I think they really needed this quiet rest stop in Manchester.

They’re off to Belgium tonight and I hope they have a good time.
buh bye

Pub lunch and backpackers

Posted on October 26, 2007

Yesterday we met the girls at a local pub for lunch.  We all  had a good time.  Well except for B who had a bit of a ‘discussion’ w/ the bartender.  She was trying to find out what was in the fish fingers– and was told that they throw out all packaging and well she just couldn’t tell her.  Besides there’s no milk in fish fingers.  B  persevered and finally was able to get the manager to go and check.  Apparently there IS trace amounts of milk in fish fingers.  B is being super strict w/ the milk because C has been have a lot of tummy issues.  It’s really difficult to order food when you have a child on a restricted diet.  Next time we’ll be going to Nando’s, they apparently have a large binder filled w/ every item on the menu and what is in it. In the end she did find something to eat and all was well. Just a bit of a hassle, the woman could have been a bit more helpful.

And then these folks showed up! I made a big pot of chicken noodle soup and some bread. They ate it all so they were either really hungry and would have eaten anything or it was good and they really liked it. I think it was a little bit of both.
